Random closed sets viewed as random recursions

چکیده
It is known that the box dimension of any Martin-Löf random closed set of {0, 1}N is log2( 43 ). Barmpalias et al. [Journal of Logic and Computation, Vol. 17, No. 6 (2007)] gave one method of producing such random closed sets and then computed the box dimension, and posed several questions regarding other methods of construction. We outline a method using random recursive constructions for computing the Hausdorff dimension of almost every random closed set of {0, 1}N, and propose a general method for random closed sets in other spaces. We further find both the appropriate dimensional Hausdorff measure and the exact Hausdorff dimension for such random closed sets.

Propagation Models and Fitting Them for the Boolean Random Sets
In order to study the relationship between random Boolean sets and some explanatory variables, this paper introduces a Propagation model. This model can be applied when corresponding Poisson process of the Boolean model is related to explanatory variables and the random grains are not affected by these variables. An approximation for the likelihood is used to find pseudo-maximum likelihood esti...
متن کاملFuzzy Random Utility Choice Models: The Case of Telecommuting Suitability
Random utility models have been widely used in many diverse fields. Considering utility as a random variable opened many new analytical doors to researchers in explaining behavioral phenomena. Introducing and incorporating the random error term into the utility function had several reasons, including accounting for unobserved variables. This paper incorporates fuzziness into random utility mode...
متن کاملMartin-Löf random generalized Poisson processes
Martin-Löf randomness was originally defined and studied in the context of the Cantor space 2ω . In [1] probability theoretic random closed sets (RACS) are used as the foundation for the study of Martin-Löf randomness in spaces of closed sets. Here we focus on the space of closed subsets of R and a particular family of measures on this space, the generalized Poisson processes. This gives a nove...
متن کاملBinary random fields, random closed sets, and morphological sampling
We theoretically formulate the problem of processing continuous-space binary random fields by means of mathematical morphology. This may allow us to employ mathematical morphology to develop new statistical techniques for the analysis of binary random images. Since morphological transformations of continuous-space binary random fields are not measurable in general, we are naturally forced to em...
متن کاملRandom Walk Integrals
We study the expected distance of a two-dimensional walk in the plane with unit steps in random directions. A series evaluation and recursions are obtained making it possible to explicitly formulate this distance for small number of steps. Closed form expressions for all the moments of a 2-step and a 3-step walk are given, and a formula is conjectured for the 4-step walk. Heavy use is made of t...
